About Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

The VU Amsterdam, better known as the VU, was founded in 1880, by theologian, journalist and politician Abraham Kuyper. Nowadays the university hosts over 29.000 students of whom 4.100 are international.

The VU Amsterdam is a public research university and ranks among the top 150 universities in the world. The campus is located close to the Amsterdam Zuidas, where many large and international firms find their offices, which leads to great bonds between the VU Amsterdam and these companies.

Why do we work together?

The primary reason international students come to the Netherlands are obviously the great educational institutions this country hosts. Apart from being the reason for students to come to the Netherlands, the institutions also serve as the first source of information for these students.

The VU Amsterdam wants to help their students have a smooth start in their new host country. Therefore, they send various information letters and organise social events in the first weeks of arrival. Still, some students remain with questions about how to arrange their basic needs most effectively and which providers can be trusted and which cannot. This is why we work together. International Student Services unburdens both the educational institution and the students themselves, by providing the right information and making the registration process for crucial services as easy as possible.

"International Student Services can help you with arranging several practicalities you need to take care off. Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is happy to work together with this organisation. It is great that they offer a digital environment where you can easily prepare yourself for your move to the Netherlands – all in one place!"
